My Story
I am a self-taught painter, having started painting at a very young age. I have had many solo exhibitions – June 2011 (Hong Kong), April 2014 (Mumbai), March 2015 (Prague), November 2016 (Hong Kong), September 2016 (Hong Kong), April 2020 (New York) October 2015 (Mumbai) and group exhibitions from Nov 2018- current (Mamaroneck Artist Guild, Larchmont, NY), Sept 2022 (Rye, NY), Sept 2019 (Hastings-on-Hudson, NY), Nov 2018, Oct 2020 &2022 (Colors of Life, Mumbai), July-Aug 2023 (Healing Colors, NY)

As a mother, a former banker, an executive coach, and co-founder of an ed-tech start-up, I cherish experiences from the diverse roles in my life and express myself through bold brush strokes and a vibrant palette (mostly oils and watercolors). I recently completed my MA from New York University to become an art therapist. I want to help others find creativity, voice, and meaning in their lives, empowering and uplifting them from whatever their current environment is! As a practising therapist, I work at a local hospital that treats people with deep psychosis challenges like schizophrenia, bipolar and substance abuse. I also work with children as a part of a family practice in my local community.

Born in Kolkata, I have studied and lived in many cities in Asia – Durgapur, Pune, Ahmedabad, Mumbai (India) and Hong Kong . I moved to New York in 2018, and I live in NY with my husband and 3 kids.

My art explores the eternal within the ephemeral. In our lives, we vividly remember moments of peace, rejuvenation, energy, hope and love. When memory strips out the cognitive deluge of the time, a feeling lingers even as the details retreat. How we feel about sights, moments and experiences define our memories, which become anchors in our lives.

My art grew out of my personal memories of such transformative moments, which were often connected to my interaction with nature’s beauty. Over the years, I have realized that all of us carry such evocative moments within us.

In art and nature, I find calm, peace and restoration. I want to convey deep gratitude through my paintings. Painting has always been my refuge in the most difficult times of my life. My art grew out of my personal memories of such transformative moments, which were often connected to my interaction with nature’s beauty. Over the years, I have realized that all of us carry such evocative moments within us. It is my ode to our inner strength and the beauty of nature.

My art seeks to remind the viewer of this hidden strength, and the abundance of positivity each of us possess and can amplify.

  •  The Bliss series, which depicts flowers, contains artworks that are a celebration of the love we are offered each day.

  • Insta2canvas series, I paint your memories

  •  Footprints is about our homes, cities, and surroundings that witness the passing of time, through little memories and tugs in the hearts of those who pass through them.

  • Pathways are significant to us as they remind us of the choices we have made and will make all our lives.

  •  In the Reflections collection, I try to find meaning in the vastness of the universe and am aware that we will merge into it one day.
